"Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle." - Abraham Lincoln
The son of an electrician, Brett had been raised with knowledge of the trades at his fingertips, but it wasn’t until he studied Construction Management and Stagecraft at Illinois State that he was able to put this knowledge into practice. These new-found skills fueled a relentless obsession of building any and every thing.
Armed with curiosity and a broad skillset, Brett pursued work environments ranging from retail carpentry and design to steel fabrication and welding. He even spent several years managing the day to day operations of a 2800-acre farm. The one common thread in each of these jobs was overseeing a product or process from start to finish. Brett looks forward to do the same at BrightLeaf.
Outside of work, Brett considers himself a decent drummer and jumps at the chance to ride any motorcycle, although the latter may be hard to believe since his daily driver is a Prius. He spends most of his free time with his two favorite girls (his wife and daughter) and his two favorite dogs (both mini dachshunds) enjoying the simple things in life.
