Passion for cultivating memorable experiences.

Mary Kate came across BrightLeaf Homes while participating in the USGBC’s Greenbuilt House Tour. Observing the team in action and their connection with the home owners was a breath of fresh air that she knew she wanted to be a part of. After spending her career in 4 different industries: psychology, graphic design, interior design, and travel, she was interested in working for a company where she felt like she could make a difference in people’s lives and contribute to promoting sustainable initiatives. BrightLeaf Homes was the perfect blend of not only her background, but also her interests and eco-friendly approach to life.
Mary Kate grew up in the southwest Chicago suburb of Orland Park and has lived in Chicago for over a decade. She is the 2nd of 4 kids, and is easily fitting into the role of Aunt to her 4 vibrant nephews. She adores her family and is preparing to give up the city life to spend more quality time with everyone.
Mary Kate’s love for traveling, photography, and exploring different cultures has taken her to 12 countries and numerous cities over the years. The dearest to her heart is Italy, where she lived for a year in Rome just outside of the Vatican walls. She never imagined all that she would gain personally and even professionally by picking up and heading to a country that she had not previously visited. The list of new locations to travel to is ever growing and the goal is to check off one new country and one new city in the US each year. In the spirit of exploring new things, she has been learning to sail on Lake Michigan, and when she is at home, cultivates her succulent garden or can be found at her sewing machine working on a new project.
Most things in her life have centered around “giving and living the experience”. She believes that at the end of the day, experiences define the moments that become our lives. Her role as the Client Manager encompasses this philosophy and allows her to guide families through the pre-construction phase of building their forever home.
